Qira'at Course

Tajweed is the technique, Qira'at is the style. Once your Tajweed is solid, this course refines your tone, pacing, and rhythm one to one, so your recitation carries the clarity and beauty the Quran was revealed to be heard with.

What Are the 10 Qira'at, and Which Will You Learn?

Ten recognised recitation traditions exist in total. Here's how they're grouped, and which one this course actually focuses on.

The 7 Mutawatir Qiraat

The seven widely authenticated recitation traditions, each carried through a verified chain of narrators back through history.

The 3 Mashhur Qiraat

Three further well-known recitations, recognised and studied alongside the seven, though less commonly practised day to day.

Riwayat, the Named Versions

Within each qira'ah sit specific riwayat, the individual transmitted versions, such as Hafs or Warsh, that most reciters actually learn.

Most students study Hafs 'an 'Asim, the riwayah recited most widely across the world, though your teacher can discuss other options if you have a specific background or goal in mind.

Who This Course Is For

Students who already recite with solid Tajweed and want to refine their tone, pacing, and overall recitation style further, not a starting point for beginners.

How It's Taught

Live, one to one video lessons focused on listening and correction, with your teacher guiding pacing, pause points, and vocal delivery in real time.

Who Teaches It

A DBS-checked teacher holding an Ijazah in recitation, qualified specifically to guide students through refined, style-conscious Quranic recitation.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Qira'at and Tajweed?

Tajweed is the set of pronunciation rules every recitation follows. Qira'at refers to the recognised recitation traditions built on top of that foundation, each with its own style and transmission chain.

Do I need to already recite well before starting this course?

Yes. This course assumes solid Tajweed already. If pronunciation still needs work, our Tajweed course is the right place to start first.

Which riwayah will I learn?

Most students study Hafs 'an 'Asim, the most widely recited riwayah worldwide, though your teacher can discuss other options depending on your background and goals.

Is this course only for people planning to lead prayers?

No. Many students take it simply to recite more beautifully and confidently, whether or not they ever lead others in prayer.

How long does this course usually take?

It varies by student and how much time you already spend reciting, since this is refinement work rather than learning something from scratch.
