Noorani Qaida Course
Every fluent reader of the Quran started in the same place, at the Arabic alphabet. Our Noorani Qaida course teaches you each letter, sound, and rule of pronunciation one to one, so reading the Quran becomes something you can do yourself, not something you rely on someone else to explain.

The 11 Topics That Make Up Noorani Qaida
This is the same core content taught in Noorani Qaida books worldwide, delivered one to one instead of read from a page alone. Your teacher moves through these in order, spending as long as each one genuinely needs.
The Arabic alphabet
Every letter's isolated and joined shapes.
Makharij
The exact point each sound is produced from.
Harakat
The short vowel marks, fatha, kasra, and damma.
Madd letters
Where a vowel sound stretches rather than stays short.
Tanween
The double vowel marks that add an 'n' sound at a word's end.
Leen letters
Soft, gliding sounds that need a gentler pronunciation.
Sukoon and Shaddah
Reading a letter with no vowel, and doubling a letter's sound.
Noon Sakinah and Tanween rules
What happens when these meet certain letters.
Rules of Raa and Laam
When these two letters are read heavy or light.
Joining letters into words
Where individual sounds finally become fluent reading.
Waqf
Where and how to pause correctly when reciting.
Most students recognise letter shapes within the first couple of weeks and work through the full 11 topics over roughly three to six months, depending on age and how often you practise between lessons.
Who This Course Is For
Absolute beginners of any age, whether a four year old starting their very first lesson or an adult who never learned to read Arabic. No reading ability is assumed at all.
How It's Taught
Live, one to one video lessons on Zoom, Skype, or Google Meet, never a group class and never a recorded video. Your teacher watches and corrects you in real time.
Who Teaches It
A DBS-checked teacher experienced specifically in early reading instruction, chosen for patience as much as qualification, male or female, your choice.

Learn moreFrequently Asked Questions
How long does the Noorani Qaida course take?
Most students recognise letters within a couple of weeks and read confidently within two to four months, though this varies by age and how often you practise between lessons.
Do I need to already know any Arabic to start?
No. This course assumes nothing. It's designed for someone who has never seen Arabic script before, whether that's a young child or an adult.
Is Noorani Qaida different from just learning to read the Quran directly?
Yes. Noorani Qaida is the foundation that makes reading the actual Quran text possible correctly, covering pronunciation and letter rules the Quran itself doesn't slow down to teach.
Can adults take this course, or is it only for children?
Adults make up a large share of our Noorani Qaida students. It's never too late to learn the alphabet properly, and lessons are paced the same way regardless of age.
What happens after I finish Noorani Qaida?
Most students move on to our Tajweed course next, refining pronunciation further before progressing to memorisation, translation, or Tafseer, whichever fits your goals.
