Learn moreHow These Courses Actually Fit Together
Almost every student's journey starts the same way, then splits based on what they actually want next.
Step one, always: Noorani Qaida
The Arabic alphabet and correct pronunciation. Every other course on this page assumes you can already read, so this is where anyone with no prior reading ability begins.
Step two, for almost everyone: Tajweed
Once you're reading, Tajweed makes that reading accurate. Nearly every course further down this list, Qira'at, Hifz, and Ijazah, expects solid Tajweed already in place.
If your goal is reciting beautifully or memorising
Move into Qira'at to refine tone and style, or Hifz to begin memorising, with Ijazah as the certified endpoint for either path.
If your goal is understanding what you read
Move into Translation first, then Tafseer for depth, or Quranic Arabic if you'd rather read the meaning yourself than rely on translation at all.
Standing apart, useful at any stage: Salah and Islamic Studies
Both the Salah course and the Islamic Studies course don't require any of the above first. Many students, reverts especially, start with one of these two before touching Arabic at all.
Not Sure Which Course to Start With?
Three quick questions usually settle it.
Can you read Arabic script confidently yet?
If not, Noorani Qaida is where to start, regardless of age.
Is your recitation itself accurate?
If you're not sure, Tajweed is worth confirming before anything more advanced.
Still unsure, even after that?
