Three Types of Ijazah, One Careful Process
Which certification fits depends on what you've already studied.
Ijazah in Hafs 'an 'Asim
The most common path, certifying the riwayah recited most widely across the world.
Ijazah in Other Qira'at
For students who've studied a different riwayah and want that specific chain certified.
Ijazah in Hifz
Certifying complete, accurate memorisation of the Quran rather than recitation style alone.
How Certification Actually Happens
Evaluation
Your teacher assesses your current recitation honestly before anything is agreed.
A Personalised Plan
Which sections need the most work, and roughly how long certification will realistically take.
Full Recitation
Reciting the Quran in full to your teacher, corrected wherever needed until it meets the standard.
Verification
Once your teacher is satisfied, you're certified, formally joining the chain of transmission.
Who This Course Is For
Advanced students who already recite fluently with strong Tajweed and want a certified authorisation to recite and eventually teach the Quran themselves.
How It's Taught
Live, one to one video sessions where you recite directly to your teacher, who listens closely and corrects anything that isn't yet accurate enough.
Who Teaches It
A teacher who holds their own verified Ijazah with an authenticated chain, qualified specifically to assess and certify recitation to this standard.

What actually is an Ijazah?
A formal certification that you've recited the Quran correctly to a qualified teacher, authorising you to recite it and, in turn, teach and certify others yourself.
What is the sanad, or chain of transmission?
The unbroken sequence of named teachers a recitation has passed through, each one learning from the last and teaching the next, reaching back through history.
What level of recitation do I need before starting?
You need to already read fluently with strong, consistent Tajweed. This course refines and certifies existing ability rather than building it from scratch.
How long does earning an Ijazah usually take?
Most students complete a recitation Ijazah in one to three years, depending on consistency of practice and how solid their Tajweed is at the start.
Can I teach the Quran once I have an Ijazah?
Yes. That's the point of the certification, it formally authorises you to pass on the recitation you've learned to others, continuing the chain.
